1940s Hand-Dyed Purple Satin Mini Dress | Bodice with Lace & Embroidery | One-of-a-Kind Summer Treasure

This unique piece began its life as a 1940s satin nightgown — and is now a completely one-of-a-kind mini dress, lovingly transformed to bring vintage beauty into the everyday.

The original skirt was too damaged to save, but the bodice was too beautiful to let go. I hand-dyed it a rich, vibrant purple, cropped it above the knee for a playful, modern silhouette, and added a lace trim to the new hem for a soft, finished edge.

The bodice features stunning floral embroidery, pleated (plissé) details, and lace trim — so much gorgeous craftsmanship. I also repaired small pinholes and wear with carefully placed vintage lace appliqués, each added by hand to restore and celebrate this beauty’s long history.

Now, it’s the perfect fun summer dress — easy to wear, lightweight, eye-catching, and truly one of a kind.
