A beautifully preserved Edwardian-era slip dress, crafted from whisper-light sheer cotton and adorned with delicate lace and hand embroidery.
The bodice features a soft scalloped lace panel with intricate floral detailing, gently gathered beneath to create a fluid, romantic silhouette. Fine pintucks fall from the empire line, elongating the form, while the skirt is finished with horizontal lace insertions and scattered hand-embroidered motifs — including florals and a rare butterfly detail.
The airy transparency and graceful drape give this piece an ethereal presence, equally suited to be worn as a dress, a layering piece, or preserved as part of a textile collection.
As part of its careful preservation, a few small areas of wear have been thoughtfully reinforced using antique lace appliqués, chosen to harmonize with the original design while honoring the garment’s history. These restorations are subtle and in keeping with the spirit of the piece.
The straps are simple, allowing the lacework and silhouette to remain the focus (likely later additions, as commonly seen in garments of this age).
