Edwardian White Cotton Nightgown with Plissé Chest • c.1905–1915

A dreamy late Edwardian nightgown made from soft white cotton and beautifully decorated with wide lace insertion panels and delicate plissé (ruched) detailing across the chest — a hallmark of 1905–1915 design. Finished with a high lace collar, mother-of-pearl buttons, and soft gathered sleeves with lace cuffs.

I restored several tiny age flaws using authentic antique lace appliqués, all hand-stitched to preserve the gown’s charm and integrity. Over a century old and still wonderfully wearable — a romantic piece of Edwardian loungewear perfect for collectors, cottagecore lovers, or anyone drawn to heirloom textiles.

All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat (in inches). (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

• Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.

Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:

• A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist (corset-era sizing).

• Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.

• Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
