A beautifully romantic late Edwardian to early 1910s white cotton nightgown, dating to approximately 1910–1920.
Made from lcotton, it features an extraordinary panel of original whitework embroidery across the bodice. Large floral motifs, delicate cutwork and beautifully scalloped edges frame the square neckline, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship of the period.
Lightweight, airy and effortlessly romantic, it makes the perfect summer dress. Wear it loose for a relaxed silhouette or style it with the included ivory ribbon to softly define the waist. Because the cotton is slightly sheer, it may be worn over a simple slip for additional coverage.
As part of its restoration, small coordinating textile appliqués were thoughtfully added in several areas to cover previous damage. The armholes were also carefully restitched and reinforced for stability. These restorations blend naturally into the garment while preserving its original character and beauty.
The ivory ribbon shown in the photographs is included and may be removed if preferred.
As expected with an antique garment more than a century old, subtle signs of age and previous restoration may remain. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
