Edwardian White Cotton & Lace Shirtwaist (1905–1912) – Restored with Antique Lace Patches

A beautifully preserved Edwardian white cotton shirtwaist, dating from around 1905–1912, made in fine airy lawn with exquisite vertical pintucks, lace insertion, and a delicate high collar. This was the iconic blouse of the Gibson Girl era, worn over corsets and paired with sweeping skirts.

The silhouette features romantic bishop sleeves, a softly gathered bodice, and a sweet mini peplum at the waist. The blouse arrived without its original buttons, so I added vintage ones from the same era family, keeping the look authentic and clean.

I restored multiple tiny age-related flaws using vintage lace appliqués — an old-world mending technique that harmonizes beautifully with the original design. Each patch blends into the garment’s character while preserving its structural integrity and charm. (See close-up photos.)

A favorite modern styling trick of mine:

I also love wearing these Edwardian blouses reversed — with the buttons in front for a romantic, deconstructed look.

It gives the piece a fresh life and makes it feel wonderfully contemporary.

PLEASE CHECK MEASUREMENTS BEFORE PURCHASE!

Vintage and antique clothing often differ from modern standardized sizes. Many were handmade for an individual, so sizing can vary. Instead of relying on a labeled size, compare the given measurements to a garment that fits you well. If you have any questions about fit, feel free to ask—I’m happy to help!

Condition - Care

Vintage and antique items have been previously loved, so small imperfections may exist.

Hand-dyed pieces: Due to the nature of hand-dyeing, colors may not be perfectly even. Please wash these items delicately, preferably alone or with similar colors.

Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.

Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:

A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist (corset-era sizing).

Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.

Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
