One-of-a-Kind Reconstructed 1940s Silk Set | Vintage Lace Top & Skirt-40CF

A truly one-of-a-kind ensemble, lovingly reimagined from an original 1940s silk slip that had become too fragile to preserve in its original form.

Rather than allowing this beautiful piece to disappear, it was carefully transformed into a romantic two-piece set consisting of a top and matching skirt. Antique and vintage lace fragments were thoughtfully incorporated throughout the garment, creating a design that celebrates both the history of the original piece and its new life.

The top features a dramatic deep-V neckline framed with delicate lace panels, while vintage lace appliqués have been hand-applied throughout to reinforce and embellish areas that once showed wear. The skirt was created from the lower portion of the original slip with soft movement and an ethereal silhouette.

What makes this ensemble so special is that its history remains visible. Rather than hiding every imperfection, the restoration embraces the garment’s journey, allowing the antique lace details to become part of its story.

Wear the pieces together for a romantic bridal, boudoir, or editorial-inspired look. The top would also pair beautifully with your favorite vintage denim, tailored trousers, or a flowing skirt. The skirt can easily be styled with a silk blouse tied at the waist, a delicate camisole, or a fitted knit for a completely different look.
