1950s Hand-Dyed Green Satin Bridal Nightgown – One of a Kind

This gorgeous 1950s satin bridal nightgown has been lovingly revived with a stunning hand-dyed green hue, giving it a fresh, unique look while preserving its vintage charm. The delicate lace embellishments on the chest and intricate floral embroidery add to its romantic elegance, making it a true statement piece.

To save this beauty, I carefully covered some pinholes and light stains that wouldn’t budge with vintage lace appliqués—six on the front, two on the back—all beautifully integrated into the design (see photos). The result? A one-of-a-kind nightgown that’s both timeless and reborn. Hand-dyeing creates natural variations in tone, making the color beautifully uneven and giving this piece an ethereal, organic quality.

Condition: Good vintage condition with thoughtful restoration and hand-dyed uniqueness.
Fabric: Likely satin or a satin blend, soft and flowing.

All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat (in inches). (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

Shoulder: 16 1/2”
• Armpit to armpit: 17”
• Waist: 15”
• Hips: 23”
• Total Length (shoulder to hem): 52 1/2”

For reference I couldn’t fit it to the the mannequin that is a women’s size 2-4 USA with the following measurements:
• Chest: 33.86”
* Shoulder: 15”
• Waist: 26.7”
• Hips: 24”

The model is a size Small and her measurements are:
• Bust: 33”
• Waist: 28”
• Hips: 35”
• Height: 5’3”

Condition & Care
• Vintage and antique items have been previously loved, so small imperfections may exist.
• Hand-dyed pieces: Due to the nature of hand-dyeing, colors may not be perfectly even. Please wash these items delicately, preferably alone or with similar colors.
• Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.

Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:
• A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist (corset-era sizing).
• Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.
• Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
