A one-of-a-kind late 1930s to early 1940s satin nightgown, transformed by hand in layered shades of vivid blue and deep indigo.
The beautifully shaped bodice features delicate tonal floral embroidery, a softly defined waist and shoulder straps that tie into charming bows for an adjustable fit. The long paneled skirt falls gracefully to the floor and is finished with a narrow band of lace along the hem.
I added a collection of floral appliqués at the front, arranging them into a romantic V-shaped garland that continues delicately down the skirt. Together with the hand-dyed finish, they make this antique piece completely unique.
The fabric is a fluid, lustrous satin and could be rayon; there is no fabric-content label. The variations in color are intentional and are part of the artisanal hand-dyed process—no two areas are exactly alike.
Wear it as an unforgettable evening or summer dress, style it with boots and a jacket for a more relaxed look, or enjoy it as a beautiful collector’s piece.
