A beautiful vintage satin nightgown, estimated to date from the late 1930s to early 1940s, reimagined by Lulu Boop Vintage through hand dyeing and thoughtful restoration.
Hand-dyed in shades of lilac, lavender and violet, the fabric displays a distinctly uneven, mottled finish, with lighter and darker areas throughout. These visible variations are part of the hand-dyed result and give this piece its individual character. The color is not uniform; please review the photographs closely.
The design features a deep V neckline, softly gathered short sleeves, a floral appliqué bodice and a shaped waist that flows into a long, fluid skirt. Delicate looped trim finishes the hem.
As part of its restoration, I added three appliqués specifically to cover damaged areas: one flower on the front skirt and two appliqués at the back. These additions are later alterations and form part of the garment’s story.
Originally intended as a nightgown, it also makes a beautiful dress, styled simply with sandals or layered with a jacket.
Fabric: Lustrous satin; exact fiber content is unconfirmed.
Condition: Vintage condition with alterations and visible signs of age and wear, including fraying and loose threads around some of the bodice appliqués. Please note the three added appliqués covering previous damage and the uneven coloration throughout. Please examine all photographs, including close-ups, as part of the description.
