An exceptionally beautiful antique slip with one of the most elaborate lace bodices I have ever found.
The bodice is original to the garment and is made from an intricate floral lace, finished with soft ruffles and delicate ribbon detailing. The long satin skirt falls beautifully from the bodice, creating a romantic silhouette that would be wonderful for bridal getting-ready photographs, a boudoir shoot, an intimate wedding or simply as a very special piece of antique lingerie.
I added several lace appliqués to the skirt during the restoration process to cover damaged areas and allow the slip to be worn and enjoyed again. Their placement was carefully considered so they feel like part of the design rather than obvious repairs.
The dusty rose ribbon sash shown in the photographs is included with the slip and can be tied at the waist in different ways depending on the desired look.
Please note that there is a visible area of discoloration near the lower portion of the skirt, shown clearly in the final detail photograph.
There is no fabric-content label. The skirt has the smooth finish, weight and fluid movement of satin, but the exact fiber content cannot be confirmed.
