Wear the rare. Choose quality. Live with history.

An exquisite late 1930s to early 1940s luxury slip dress crafted from beautiful Creole satin, believed to be silk, with breathtaking floral lace appliqués that transform this piece into a true work of wearable art.

The softly draped bodice is framed by delicate Chantilly-style floral lace, creating a romantic neckline that continues over the shoulders. A dramatic empire waist panel, composed of layered floral lace with scalloped edges, beautifully defines the silhouette before flowing into an extraordinary cascading arrangement of matching lace appliqués that descend asymmetrically along the skirt. The effect is elegant, sculptural, and unmistakably couture in spirit.

Cut on the bias, the satin skims the body with incredible fluidity, creating the graceful movement and luminous drape that made this style so iconic during Hollywood’s Golden Age. The low scooped back is finished with the original self-tie satin sash, allowing the waist to be softly adjusted while maintaining an effortlessly feminine silhouette.

Crafted from luxurious Creole satin, the original fiber content tag is no longer present. Based on the original labeling and the remarkable hand and drape of the fabric, it is believed to be silk, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Whether collected as an exceptional example of fine vintage lingerie, treasured as bridal boudoir, or styled as an ethereal evening gown, this is a remarkably elegant and increasingly rare piece.

Condition

Very good vintage condition.

Three tiny spots onine bottom of the skirt been discreetly covered with carefully selected antique lace appliqués that blend beautifully with the original design. Light signs of age consistent with a garment of this era may remain but do not detract from its overall beauty.
