Early 1900s Edwardian teddy (step-in) crafted in fine ivory cotton batiste — a feather-light, semi-sheer weave prized for intimate garments of the era.
The upper bodice features a champagne-toned sheer embroidered net gauze band embroidered with delicate floral motifs, lace insertion, and silk ribbon threading. Wide original shoulder straps anchor the softly gathered batiste body below.
The construction, open leg cut, and side slit detail identify this as an early teddy / step-in rather than a slip — a more intimate and less commonly preserved form.
The gauzy batiste body shows age-consistent wear. Select areas have been carefully stabilized and reinforced to preserve structural integrity. These interventions are visible upon close inspection and are integrated into the garment’s preserved history.
Finished with fine lace edging at the hem.
