An authentic Edwardian petticoat, dating to the early 20th century, delicately constructed in fine white cotton with intricate lacework.
This piece embodies the refinement of antique undergarments, featuring soft gathering at the waist that falls into airy, sheer panels adorned with lace insertion, vertical pintucks, and a beautifully structured tiered hem. The interplay of transparency and texture creates a light, ethereal presence, characteristic of the Edwardian era.
Several small areas of wear, consistent with the age and delicacy of antique cotton, have been thoughtfully stabilized using antique lace appliqués. These have been carefully placed to integrate seamlessly into the design, preserving the textile while subtly enhancing its visual composition.
The waist has been finished with a soft ribbon tie for adjustability, replacing what was likely an original drawstring and allowing for ease of wear.
A timeless piece that can be appreciated as a collector’s garment or styled for modern use as a romantic, sheer skirt layered over slips or lingerie.
